Hi Atlassian Support,
We currently have the Atlassian connector integrated with Claude. One of our users has created a project within Claude and is attempting to add URL's by selecting the Atlassian option.
However, when the user pastes a Confluence page URL during this process, they receive the following error:
“Invalid URL – Failed to resolve URL. Make sure the MCP server supports this URL.”
Interestingly, the same Confluence URL works as expected when pasted directly into a chat or when referencing the page by name within Claude. The issue appears to be specific to adding the URL as part of the project files.
Could you please advise on what might be causing this behaviour or if there are any configuration requirements or limitations we should be aware of?
Happy to provide further details if needed.
Hi @Taylor Chirewa ,
I just tried the same thing, and I'm actually seeing the same behavior 🫤
I'd suggest reaching out to Atlassian Support and reporting this as a bug. They should be able to confirm this on their end, provide some insights and reach out to dev team in charge to see what's going on 👀
Cheers,
Tobi
This error stems from a known behavior in how Claude's Project Knowledge interface handles data retrieval via Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers compared to standard chat windows.
When a user pastes a Confluence URL directly into a standard chat, Claude uses individual workspace tool permissions (such as getConfluencePage) to pull the resource successfully. However, the "Add Project Files/Knowledge" panel uses a distinct background batch-indexing logic that attempts to resolve specific resource strings through the server's resource tree.
I belive this was answered here:
