Our company is getting ready to upgrade to Confluence 5.4.3 and we need to know if the image map plugin is compatible.

I would recommend backing up your current copy of Confluence and creating a non-production version of it. Then upgrade the non-production version. That way you can verify what still works and what doesn't. Here is a link for how to create a test version of your site.
