Is it possible to *lock* the default pagetree so that it can't be opened and viewed?

Hi all. A newbies question. It's obvious how to hide the standard pagetree, but we wish to lock it and require users to navigate sections of the site using just a page tree macros for that section. Is it possible to lock the default pagetree so that it can't be opened and viewed? Cheers. Gaz

If you configure sidebar you should be able to turn off the navigation completely
