Is it possible to generate a pdf file and send it as an attachment using IFTTT macro?

Sara Abdrakhmanova July 29, 2020

Hi,

I have this survey that I have build using ConfiForms. When an applicant fills out the survey, results are stored in the table and managers have access to the table.

I am wondering, if It is possible to generate a pdf file with applicant's responses and send it to the manager as an attachment? I checked IFTTT macro and saw there are different options but I am not able to find anything connected to pdf.

I would greatly appreciate your advice. Thank you!

Hi

It is not possible to generate a PDF with ConfiForms.

But you can send files via ConfiForms IFTTT with no problem. Just put a ConfiForms Field macro that points to your file/attachment field (definition) by setting the field name parameter into the IFTTT macro body which send the email for you.

And the file (or multiple, if the field holds multiple attachment references) will be attached and send via email

Hi @Alex Medved _ConfiForms_ Alex,

thank you very much for your reply, noted!

As my team needs results to be in pdf format, I have moved results data to a separate page in the space and I see there is an option to export all info from the page to pdf where you can choose layout and other details.

Now I am wondering if there is any way to program/automate it that it will save to pdf whatever page contains and then automatically send an email with this pdf attachment?

or maybe generate some kind of link and include it in the email, so when person clicks this link, pdf document with that page information will be downloaded?

Could you please share your thoughts?

Thank you !

You can see the link if you hover over this menu item

For example, the link on our landing page https://wiki.vertuna.com/ to export it,  is https://wiki.vertuna.com/spaces/flyingpdf/pdfpageexport.action?pageId=1212451

Clicking on this link will generate a PDF for you immediately.

So including the link like this into your email message body should fulfil your requirements

@Alex Medved _ConfiForms_thank you very much for sharing this, link works as you said!

I noticed that it downloads whatever is on that page at the moment, and I have 1st applicants response. I configured that each applicant's response is on a different page, like on the pic. First page has the very 1st response, and the last page has the newest one.

Do you think it is possible to add some value to that link you shared, to make it download the result from 7th page (the newest one) and not from the 1st page?

Or maybe there is a way to configure that the newest response comes to the 1st page and not to the last page. I was looking for it and not able to find where to change that. The number of responses per page I configured in ConfiForms ListView there is a section called Pagination.

No, I dont think the PDF export can do anything like that. If the page is dynamically updated (and using the pagination from ConfiForms actually updates the contents of a page dynamically) the PDF functionality knows nothing about it and works on the storage format (basically means that it works on the rendering of an "initial page view")

You probably need a designated page for each response separately
