Is it possible to create or customize the create space dialog?

Is it possible to create a dialog wizard for space creation that allows a user to enter various variable, which would then populate in the index page for the space?

I saw in the Confluence Online Help that "Space administrators can customise the items that are visible in the Create dialog." on their Creating Content page but I haven't found a solution to this. Have you been able to resolve this? If so, please share.
