Is it possible to change status with smart sections ?

I'd like to create a more flexible board for me and my team using Confluence whiteboard. Before committing to premium plan, I can't find on internet if it's possible to have a smart section, and an action on it for when someone put a task in the section, then the task workflow move to a specific status, like per example from TO DO to -> IN PROGRESS, etc.

Can't find the answer. Does anyone do that here?

Yes you can have smart sections, but they can't transition work items they can only be used to edit work items.

@Constantin Welcome to the Atlassian community.

I believe that you would do this by setting up a smart section on your whiteboard where the action is configured with the issue field to edit being the Status field and the value to set it to is the new status you want.

You could create a smart section for each of the statuses you use and drag work items to whatever section you want to change the item's status to. 

Disclaimer: I have not personally used the whiteboard feature with Jira tickets. Anyone who knows whether this will work or not, please chime in.

There may be articles or tutorials about whiteboards describing how to implement this flow.
