Is it possible to categorize the How-to-guides intosegments or sections?

It would be great if you can set up different sections and categorize the How-to-guides into them. Is that possible?

Hi Martina, natively there is no proper option to do this in Confluence, however there are a few ways you can achieve a similar result.

You can create specific labels for your different How-to article categories, and add them to the relevant articles. Then, a quick search for that label will return all the articles that have that label on them.

To set your article categories up in the page tree in the Confluence sidebar, you can create new pages to serve as parent pages for each of your categories; simply create a new blank page with the name and description of your category, then move it under your "How-to articles" parent page, and then move all the How-to articles you want to the parent page you just created.

Finally, there are also a few third-party plugins available that change the look and feel of Confluence, and provide different categorisation options as well such as SubSpace Navigation, which might be of use in your case.
