Is it possible to allow comments on an image from a remote web page?

I understand that attached images can be commented on, but I would like to be able to comment on images I've linked from external urls as well.

Hi Jessica,

I tried commenting on an image from the web I had on my Confluence page and found the functionality was not there. I opened a suggestion ticket to request that the developers add the ability to comment on web images to a later version. Feel free to watch the ticket for status and comment on the suggestion to communicate directly with the developers: As a user I would like the ability to comment on web images in Confluence
