Incompatible Office Products are installed error

When I try to edit a excel spread sheet attached to a confluence page I get the following error.  incompatible office products are installed on your machine.  Does any one know about this or have a fix.   I am running office 2013.

There's something wrong with your Office install, nothing to do with Confluence (except that Confluence is triggering the warning by serving up the file in a way that causes office to chuck the error)
