In case of non-renewal of "Confluence", will all the data be "read only" or "gets deleted" ?

Kishore Varma K September 17, 2018

It's been a year since I am using "Confluence" and i do have many documents and flows written down.
Now In case of not renewing the plan, will all the data be "Read-only" or will be deleted?
And if I do renew after a couple of months, will all the data be still available?

Thank you.

Hello @Kishore Varma K,

It actually depends on your current license.

If you're on Cloud:

Confluence data will be deleted 15 days after the product is unsubscribed.

Your data cannot be recovered after it's deleted. We strongly recommend creating a Confluence site backup or Jira site backup, as noted below.

To remove Confluence, you can delete it from your Atlassian Cloud subscription. This will immediately delete your Confluence data and remove Confluence access from all users. No further Confluence renewals will be processed.

If you're on Server:

When your evaluation expires, your evaluation instance will become read-only.

All self-hosted licenses are perpetual, meaning the product will continue to operate the same way as it does before and after the maintenance period expires.

After the first 12 months, your software maintenance will expire and you will no longer be able to receive technical support or software updates.

Hope this helps!

Hello @Manon Soubies-Camy
Thank you for your reply.

In the attached image, it says cannot be renewed. So the data would still be available? screenShot.png

Hi @Kishore Varma K,

Go to cogwheel from administrator section --> General configuration and choose the License details from the left side panel. Please go through the documentation for information.

@Kishore Varma K - the "Unlimited users" tier makes me think you're using an evaluation license, but the easiest thing to do is to contact Atlassian support (choose "Billing, payments and pricing").

Hi @Kishore Varma K,

The data/pages will be available to read after the confluence license expiry also. However, you cannot add new spaces or pages to the system after the license expiry.

Gangavath Kishore Kumar.
