Importing data into Confluence SQL DB

ALC_DBS April 23, 2019

Doesn't allow the users to login after importing the data from the trial version of Confluence (6.15.2)  to the production environment with SQL Database. Getting the below error.

"Sorry, an error occurred trying to log you in. Please try again."

Both Jira and Confluence are on the same server. Able to login using the admin account, but doesn't allow the normal users to login. Once logged in with admin account and you check the users, there is no groups assigned to them. When you try to assign the groups to the user, it gives an error saying "Failed to modify group memberships".

Hello there! Thanks for sharing here with the Community.
As I understand, you are having problems while adding users to groups. This could be caused by many factors.

It seems that this issue appeared right after the backup restore from another instance. Also, this error is usually related to instances with LDAP connections. Is that your case?

I would recommend that you start by looking into your LDAP Connection setup. We have some documentation on the setup here:

Connecting to an LDAP Directory

You could start by looking into your connection Base DN.
Also, make sure that the user being used to bind the LDAP connection has enough permissions on your LDAP. This can also cause issue with the procedure.

Further, if you connection is setup as read-only with local groups, you might need to apply changes to your LDAP groups directly via the LDAP so Confluence can later sync the changes.

Looking forward to your reply!

Hi! Diego

Thank you for the response. I am using local users not LDAP. The problem is not setting up the users. Once I import the data into the SQL DB, I am not able to login. I am able to login using the admin account, but not able to login with any other local user account that I used in my other instance.
