Background

Our company installed standalone confluence and jira on server computer. Unfortunatelt few days ago server computer was attacked by anonymous chinese hacker. Since then we cannot access our confluence. So, We decided to move cloud. But, We must access confluence in order to migrate server to cloud. ( to excute cloud backup tool). So, We formatted server computer and restore jira with backup files.(this was okay. works properly) But, we tried confluence with backfiles. Install process was okay. But, Just after Restoring with backup file. We cannot login to our confluence. Exact the same ID and password properly working on newly installed confluence. (Not restored by backup files)

When We use jira and confluence, we created IDs on Jira and linked them to confluence.

Version: confluence 6.11.2 server (maybe Not Sure)

What we have?

Backup file (zip from regularly generated by confluence)

confluencedb Backup files (mysql (sql extension))

What we Need?

 1. We need to restore our confluence server and contents with backup file. (Now, We cannot login after restored by backup file.)

2. If there's some other way to directly migrate server backup file to cloud. Please let us know.

Hello there Jin!

It is really a shame that your server has been hacked. This can halt an entire organization workflow! Glad to hear that you do have backups from a point prior to this hack.

As I understand this situation, login to the Confluence Instance is currently impossible. Also, it seems that you were managing your Confluence users through Jira, is that correct?

If we are unable to login into Confluence, we can try to Restore The Password of an administrator account:

After you restore this password, you should be able to login to your instance. Further, would you be able to clarify a few points for us? Here they are:

  1. Is there any kind of error thrown at you when you try to login into Confluence?
  2. Are you unable to login regardless of user being used to do so?
  3. Do you have a full site XML backup of Confluence or only the database one?

Here is a little more information on site XML backups:

Let us hear from you Jin. Looking forward to your reply!
