I can't do what confluence is telling me to do.

steph ventura June 12, 2020

I was following the steps below but I do not see Confluence HTML Macros where it says it should be.

Enabling the HTML Macro

  1. Go to  > Manage apps.

  2. Select System from the drop down and search for the Confluence HTML Macros system app.
  3. Expand the listing and enable the html (html-xhtml)  module.

Does anyone else know how I can enable this if I can't find what I'm supposed to look for?

Hi @steph ventura,

I suppose you got this text from this page? This is actually for Confluence Server. For Confluence Cloud there is no native HTML macro available.

If you still need a HTML macro in the Cloud, you should have a look at the Marketplace. There are several solutions available, but keep in mind that they are not as powerful as the Server HTML macro. This is because in the Cloud Atlassian sandboxes apps inside iframes. This means you can't for example style your page using a HTML macro, or execute arbitrary JavaScript that interacts with the rest of the page like you can on Server.

Hope this helps! Bonus tip: look in the top right Corner to see whether documentation corresponds to Server or Cloud. :)

@steph ventura

What are you looking to do with custom HTML?

I thought I had to do that to embed smartsheets into Confluence (the cloud, not the server). But if you know how to embed smartsheets, that would be helpful!
