I turned on public links, copied the link to my page and shared it with a colleague who received a message stating she "did not have access to the content."
Per the "Help" instructions, I changed my trial to a paid subscription and asked her to try again, but still the same error. Whether simply sharing a public link with a miscellaneous individual or creating a group/inviting specific people to join confluence, I need to be able to share diagraming output with other team members.
What am I doing wrong?
Hi @James Short
You said you copied the link... did you copy the URL from the browser's bar?
Or did you go thru the Share button and clicking the Public link?
Sorry if this sounds too trivial but because public links are a two stage process (enable the feature + take extra step to create a specific page's public link), a lot of people forget the second bit.
Edit:
The UI may look differently for some users:
Hello @James Short
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
Have you ensured Public Links are enabled at both the Global Confluence level and in the individual space that contains the page?
You said you upgraded your trial to a paid subscription. How long after that did the user retry accessing the link?
Did you have the user try in a private browsing window, such as Chrome Incognito, or in a different browser application, or after clearing the browser cache?

Hi James,
This can happen when the page itself is shared publicly, but some content on it, such as diagrams, macros, or embedded elements, still requires authenticated Confluence access.
I would first check page restrictions, space public link settings, and whether the diagram app/content supports anonymous viewing.
As a workaround, you can also try exporting the diagram as an image and placing it directly on the page.
If you need to publish selected Confluence pages externally more reliably, our app Public Pages for Confluence may be relevant
It is built for publishing Confluence pages as public web pages with branding, SEO settings, analytics, and custom domain support.

Hi @James Short , welcome to the Atlassian Community and thanks for your question.
Are you using a third party app for the diagram? Have you checked there aren't some additional permissions to configure?
Cheers
