I am trying to remove users from groups but the action can not be completed.

  • Could not remove user 'nnnn' as a member of group 'nnnn'. Check your server logs for more information.

I have tried in the Group Members screen, and also from the User > Edit User Groups screen. The same error message displays.

I am working in Confluence 6.7.0 (on premise).

I have full Confluence-administrator permissions.

Hi @Stephen Dowding

Please let us know where you are managing your user groups to login into Confluence.

If you are managing your confluence User management by using LDAP(User Directories) In that case, you need to remove the user membership in your LDAP.

If you are managing your confluence User management by using JIRA(User Directories) In that case, you need to remove the user membership in your LDAP.

If you are using Confluence internal directory, then you can remove the users directly from the Confluence.

Here is a useful Atlassian article for Removing Users from a Group

Thanks

Yoga
