Hyperlink on Image in Panel Box shows wrong mouseover

When i create a Panel and put an Image in it, everything looks cool.

But if i create a Hyperlink from this image it shows the "Move" Hover, when Hovering over it in Viewmode.

Couldnt find any way to solve this. Is it a bug that exists for Years now? (Testet on Cloud an on 2 Year old Confluence)

Hi Thorsten,

Thank you for bringing this up here. Indeed, there is a bug for this on both Cloud and Server for a few years now (Server was created only in the past year)

  • CONFCLOUD-57252 Move cursor is showing instead of pointer cursor when hovering over an image
  • CONFSERVER-57843 Mouse Cursor displayed incorrectly when hovering over attached Image in Confluence Page

There's a CSS workaround listed in the SERVER ticket description that you can apply to workaround the issue. It also appears that this issue does not occur in the Confluence Cloud New Editor.

Let me know if you have any trouble with the workaround!

Take care,

Shannon

Hi Shannon,

the Workaround doesn't work since we use the cloud version. Just wanted initially tell that a server installment has the same problem.

AND the New Editor does not even have the ability to add a panel any more. (CLOUD). So its not solved for me.

But If this is known for such a long time, why didn't you fix it?

Anyway having a lot of trouble with the new editor (A lot of complains about things, that don't work anymore).

So im not very Happy right now, because this is again one of the simple things, that drive our users wild and they even want to abandon jira, just because they think that Atlassian is a bad company we shouldn't support . :-(

Hello Thorsten,

The workaround originated with the Cloud ticket, and at the time when I tested it, I could confirm that it worked to solve the issue.

I found an internal comment in CONFCLOUD-57252 from a support engineer in January saying the workaround could be applied to the Global Stylesheet. As of that comment, it was working, so you can try raising a ticket with the Support team and they can see if they can try it for you. Feel free to refer them to this Community post here if they have any questions.

When I test this issue in the new editor, I cannot replicate it. In that case, the problem likely doesn't exist on pages created with the new editor. Therefore, it's likely that the issue may not be addressed on the old editor in the upcoming roadmap. Confluence Server would be a different matter, so the case will to be prioritized and added to our roadmap in the future.

The new editor has indeed been pared down a lot in the name of simplicity, but it's causing a lot of pain points for many of our customers. I'm sorry that you happen to be one of them. I would recommend that you get in touch with the Support Team directly in order to discuss specific issues that are worse for you. We can then we can get the feedback to the right channels.

Take care,

Shannon

Hi Shannon,

thanks for answering. The global Stlyesheet is disabled for cloud customers like me.(Confluence Question)

I cannot get my users to get a clear problem description. Its all about, what they are saying in the Coffee Kitchen and nobody feels like to have time to report it correctly.  :-(

Hi Thorsten,

Thank you for following-up so soon!

The global Stlyesheet is disabled for cloud customers like me.(Confluence Question)

This is true, but the Global Stylesheet is still accessible by Atlassian Staff. This is the reason I recommended you to contact the Support team directly so the workaround can be applied for you. You can simply reference CONFCLOUD-57252 in your ticket, and let them know to try the workaround that is listed at the bottom of that case, or refer them back to this thread.

As for your users feedback, you can ask them to send the feedback via Confluence whenever something comes up. That will go to the development team and they can use that information in order to work on improving the new editor.

Above is where your colleagues can send feedback to the development team for the new Confluence.

Let me know if you have any trouble creating that support ticket, and I can give you a hand.

Shannon
