How to update a confiform field automatically based on other fields

I want to update a Status field to "expired" in confiform when the due date field is in the past, automatically when the date is reached. i.e If the due date is 7/30/2020, the status needs to be changed to expired when the date is reached.
Please advise how i can achieve this.
