I want to restrict access to older versions of any page to the system admin only.

All regular users shall only be able to see the current page.

Hi @Ralf_bamert welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Why would you want to restricted access to the version history of a Confluence page?

Confluence is designed for Open Work.

This is not possible yet out-of-the-box. You can vote & watch the open suggestion here: CONFCLOUD-13247.

As an alternative, you could (bulk) delete the oldest/older versions of a page.

I guess it's bulk delete then. A lot of history to be deleted.

There are third-party apps (like ScriptRunner for Confluence) that can help you with that.
