We use Confluence on a on-premise server with a SSD.
I notice high disk write activity also when confluence is not used.
Is there a way to reduce the disk writes to expand the lifetime of the SSD?
E.g. disable unnecessary jobs, logs or something else?
Hi Daniel,
Confluence uses the file system for the plugin cache, content index and logging as well as to store attachments and configuration files. I am not aware of any superfluous scheduled jobs that write to disk.
It is possible to reduce the logging but it isn't recommended and probably wouldn't extend the life of your SSD measurably: Working with Confluence Logs
Are you seeing any performance or functionality of Confluence impacted by the disk writes or is the SSD life your main concern?
Thanks,
Ann
Hi Ann,
the performance is great. The concerns are only regarding the SSD life...
I don't think the IO comes from logging. The log files are not very large and are not updated continuously.
I use PostgreSQL as database and PostgreSQL is also continuously writing to the SSD...
Do you have any other tips to optimize Confluence for SSD usage?
Thanks,
Daniel

Glad to hear the performance is not a problem.
I do not have any tips to minimize disk writes from Confluence. I wish I could be of more help. One good thing about the Community is there are folks with a lot of diverse experience perusing the forum, so perhaps someone else will pipe up.
