How to properly use Google Workspace as a identity provider (mapping users)

Hi!

I created a Google Workspace Organization. Several users used their SSO to login to the Jira / Confluence Space / Board I created over my (SSO logged in Google Account). I saw, that there is the possibility to use Google Workspace as an identity provider for Atlassian products.

I now want to setup Workspace as the Identity provider. But is very important for me, that:

1. The Atlassian-Google-SSO accounts are reused
2. That if a user logs in into Jira or Confluence that he/her can continue working without doing any setup steps

Is this possible and how are the steps to do? Where are the pitfalls?

Once you set it up, you'll have a SSO enforced login thru Jira and Confluence and really seamless content and tooling integration for SSO users.
