I am seeing this alert in Health Check - "Confluence version 6.4 is approaching End of Life. Please plan to upgrade Confluence within 49 days."
I tried to find out the next version for confluence with which I can upgrade. But there are couple of plugins in use which are incompatible and some of them needs upgrade. Can you please suggest me what is the best approach?
Thanks.
Dear @suruchi ablish
first of all - an end of life warning is not too serious. When the 49 days are over, your Confluence will continue to work. Atlassian will just not support it anymore.
Have a look at the upgrade matrix. The release and upgrade note will tell you when you have to walk a specific upgrade path.
I recommend to just set up a second instance from scratch and restore the confluence 6.4 dump. Figure out which obstacles appear and which plugins work with which version.
And keep in mind to install a version that is not affected by an actual security advisory.
So long
Thomas
Often times even though a Confluence app says it is not compatible it may actually be. The Marketplace requires app authors t go back in and specifically mark the apps as compatible. If the author has not done that then it is marked as incompatible. If the APIs behind the app have not changed then the odds are the app will still work. The best way to figure this out would be to create a non-production version of your Confluence and upgrade it. Then test the "incompatible" apps.
