How to export page status report into an excel

Hi,

I am using the Comala Document Management app for applying workflow to my Confluence space. I am using their Document States Report macro to generate a list of Confluence pages and their states, but I'm not able to export that as an Excel file, which I need for status reporting.

Any leads will be helpful and much appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi @Meera_Amanullah

Former Comala apps user here. I understand your point.

After a while and a minor fight with finding, navigating, and searching their documentation, I found this - https://support.appfire.com/space/CDML/649793583/Export+Metadata+-+space+tools

Not sure if it exports the data you want but might be worth looking into.

Having said that, I'd reach out to Appfire/Comala support and raise this as an issue. To their credit, they did improve reporting in one of their apps after my request :)

As someone who managed documentation content, having advanced reporting options (including csv export) in an app like this is a must (ideally, it can cross reference data across adjacent apps of the same vendor).

Hi Kris,

Thanks for the information.

I read the link you have sent and found I can't use the metadata export because the option won't be visible due to the Scroll Documents macro being used inline with Comala in the space.

As you have mentioned, I have raised a ticket and asked for the improvement with the Comala vendor. Hope the feature gets added.

Regards,

Meera

Hi @Meera_Amanullah I don't think this is possible, at least not natively within Confluence or the Comala Document Management app. After reading through Comala's documentation, there might be methods to achieve your goal, but if feasible, they'll require extra work outside of Confluence/Comala app.

  • Export the page as HTML, then use a custom script to parse the HTML and create a CSV file containing the desired data.
  • Use the send-email macro and trigger an export of the page as HTML. Send to an email connected to an automation platform that can parse the HTML data and create a CSV file containing the desired data. E.g. Power Automate, Zapier, Workato, n8n, etc.
  • Use the "Document Report" found in the Space sidebar instead of exporting a page.
  • Use Comala's "Status REST API" to retrieve the desired information and store it into a CSV file.

To be clear, I don't know if these methods will work, they're simply the ideas I thought of while pondering your question. Here's links to the documentation I was reading:

Hi Connor,

Thanks for the above inputs.

I am already using the "Document Report" found in the Space sidebar, but an excel would be handy to share during the meeting.

Will try other options on the above links aswell.

Thank you
