Hello,

We have an Apple server wiki with many docs in it that I would like to export and then import into Confluence. The server information is

macOS Server 16S1195, macOS 10.11.6(Build 15G19009)
OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.6
Wiki version 5.2(16S1195)

I have tried using wikiadmin to create an export in json but get error. Here is the command I used

sudo wikiadmin export -name XYZ -format json -path /tmp/wikiexport

The error is

Error: Caught top-level exception: [PGCUnknownTypeError] Unknown type OID 12345 for value [own], exiting

Error: Exit with status: 27

Does anyone know how to get the documents out of the Apple wiki and into a format that can be imported into Confluence? Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks in advance

Joe

@Joe L I haven't used Apple Server wiki before. However in order to import external documents into Confluence, you can refer through a few ways below:

  • You need to export all of your documents from Apple Server wiki
  • You need to understand its structure and transform it into these Confluence supported format:
  • Another way is to use our REST api to import it into Confluence, you can refer it Confluence Server REST API
  • Or you can import the whole directory that include the text file, refer here Import a text file

For other type of documents, you can refer it here:  https://confluence.atlassian.com/conf64/import-content-into-confluence-936510869.html

Minh,

Thanks for the response and info. This information is very useful as it gives me targets for the import format. The problem resides in exporting the docs from Apple wiki to get it into the format required for import. I will update this post if I ever get that resolved.

Thanks again.
