All I want to do is make some text bigger. That is it, how do I do this?

You can use the Div or Span macros:

Milo had a great answer. As an option, a lot of us use one of the six choices in header styles to make text larger, or the superscript/subscript options to make text smaller.  Along with bolding and colors, we accomplish most of what we need (though I will be exploring Milo's options further as well). Keep the simple options in mind for  simple/quick text changes on a line-by-line basis.
