How to add name of previous month in Comala workflow generated email

I am triggering an email via Comala workflow and attempting to get it to include the name of the previous month.  Through other topic/question answers, I have tried to add this to the body portion of the email:

{lastmonthname]

{{now.minusMonths(1).format("MMMM")}} 

(startOfMonth("-1M"),startOfMonth())

Here is the portion of the workflow I am working on

{send-email:user=@Approvers@|subject=Please review and approve @pagetitle@|mimetype=text/html}
The @pagelatest@ for {lastmonthname} is ready for your review and approval.

Comala Document Management does not support smart values or functions in the way your examples are written.

Have you defined the name of the previous month as a metadata value or page property? Then you can use custom value references.
