How to add/enable preview panel in Confluence

I have just got an update that the global preview panel is available for Jira Cloud users.
The steps mentioned in this guide are very useful. My question is, how can I enable or view this panel? By default, if

  • I click on any Jira issue, and it shows me the details of the work item in preview
  • In the case of Confluence, if the team is making plans, they can not view Jira preview in Confluence pages as shown in the guide linked above.

Can you pls guide how we can add or enable this global preview panel in Jira and Confluence?

Hi @Navira Zainab ,

You could use the native feature within Atlassian Administration to keep up with changes.

Basically, if you're an Org admin, you can navigate to https://admin.atlassian.com/ > Apps > Release management > App updates and find related update. In this case, you can look for "View and interact with related content using the new global preview panel" which is actually the feature you're looking for.

As you can see, even though the feature is in GA, it's not rolled out to everyone at the same time.
Once you find the feature, you can click on it and even set yourself as a watcher to receive updates.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Tobi

Hi Navira,

Great question — this new Global Preview Panel feature has been gradually rolling out across Jira and Confluence Cloud, so it can be a bit confusing at first.

Here’s how it works 👇

  • There’s no manual switch or setting to enable the global preview panel.
  • It appears automatically whenever you click a supported Smart Link or Mentioned-on link — for example, when you open a Jira issue from a Confluence page, or vice versa.
  • The feature currently supports previewing items within the same Atlassian site (same cloud instance).

If you’re not seeing it yet:

  1. Make sure you’re using the new issue view in Jira Cloud.
  2. Confirm that your site is part of the rollout (it’s being released progressively to all customers).
  3. Try disabling any browser extensions or ad blockers that might block iframe-based panels.
  4. Finally, if you still don’t see it, raise a request with Atlassian Support to verify whether the feature flag is active for your instance.

📘 Official doc for reference:

Hope that helps! It’s a subtle but really useful addition once it’s active — especially for cross-team planning between Jira and Confluence.
