How may I configure the search page to have more/different filters?

Our company uses labels extensively throughout Confluence Server 5.10 (should be upgrading to 6 soon).

If you enter a term in the search field (top right), you'll get a page of results in the main search results page, along with various filter types on the left. Is there a way to make the Label filter (or indeed, any of the hidden filters in the 'Add a filter' options) permanently visible to the filter interface?
