How long page/Attachment stored in Trash in Confluence

Hi,

I am curious how long will documents be present in Trash section in Confluence once they are deleted. Is the time period indefinite? How is the storage management of Trash happening?

I know if purged from Trash, they are gone forever.

Hi @Vinay Ravi

Everything you or your users deleted will stay in the trash bin until you purge it. 

You could look into a plugin like auto purge recycle bin if you want to automatically remove trash.

Personally i have no experience with this plugin so make sure you test it in a test environment before using it in production.

Features like 'Clean up' and 'Retention rules' were introduced from Confluence 7.19 LTS onwards.  So, no third-party plugin required now.

You can specify rules separately for Pages and Attachments and chose to auto delete/ purge them after x number of days in Trash section (allowed values are 1-2000).

If Confluence is recently upgraded, the last upgraded date is taken if Confluence did not find the value for any Page or Attachment.  This is because, the feature is not available in versions earlier than 7.19 LTS.
