How do I make it so that a task list is checked per user? and does not show checked for everyone?

I'm trying to create a checklist within confluence-- kind of like a worksheet that each person can use/leverage-- the issue is that when one person checks the task as 'complete' everyone sees it as complete.. How can I make it so that the task list is checked on a per user basis? so for ex. if Amy checks off Task 1, John still sees his Task 1 as incomplete

That is not how tasks work in Confluence. If you wanted to do that you would have two create two separate tasks ... one for each person.
