How do I insert a link (not already on Confluence) of a pdf, Word and/or Excel to a Confluence page

I want to post an outside link or document to a Confluence page.  I understand how to post from one Confluence page to another, but I cannot find instructions on how to include a link I created outside of Confluence (or that someone sent me).  I've tried using the macro for this, but to no avail.

Hi @Kim McCalla Welcome to Atlassian Community!

On Confluence cloud -

You can easily add an external link to a confluence page by using shortcut "CTRL + K" or type "/" and select Link macro.

Similarly you can type "/" and select macros like "Office Excel, Office Word, Office Powerpoint, Files and Images" to add documents to your page.
