I have tried going into the manage apps page, but it doesn't give me the option to disable the recently viewed plugin. I also tried to temporarily disable it using --disable-addons command, but when I did that, Confluence wouldn't load. I also tried to move the .jar file out of the bundled-plugins folder, but once again, Confluence wouldn't load.

I figured out a work around since Atlassian doesn't support turning off the Recently Viewed App/Plugin. I was able to create some custom HTML for the header of every page which doesn't allow that div to be rendered on the page for specific users.
