I was able to embed the Excel file (.xlsx) using the Excel macro in the confluence page. I couldn't get a preview even when I use a small size file. I would like to edit the excel from within the confluence page as noted in https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/insert-microsoft-office-macros/.
Hi @Benitta Thekkath ,
Unfortunately, if you upload a file directly to a Confluence page, you cannot edit the Excel directly there. To make changes, you would need to:
Download the attached Excel file from the page.
Edit it locally on your computer.
Upload the updated version back to the Confluence page, replacing the previous attachment.
This is described here: Manage uploaded files
There is a feature request related to what you're looking for: CONFCLOUD-82025: Allow Direct Editing of Embedded Excel Files in Confluence Cloud Excel Macro
What you could also do is embed a file from some other platform (e.g. SharePoint), as the whole experience is much better supported and I'm not sure if you could even update the file directly in Confluence as well by using this approach 👀
You can check the example here: https://community.atlassian.com/forums/Confluence-questions/How-do-I-insert-OneDrive-smart-link-to-embed-files-in-Confluence/qaa-p/3050098#M343610
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Tobi
