How can I cancel the updates of a Confluence page

Annie HIP-KI
August 24, 2026

When I open a page in update mode, I click on Enter, I cancel it with ctrl+Z and then I click on Close, to not update the page. A popin says it's possible my updates are lost, then I accept it.

Then there is a message/link saying I have updates not saved. (on the left of the button Update) When I click, it opens the page in Update mode. I have the impression the only way to make the message disappear is to save the page. So I save the page and when I check history of modifications, There is my saving but no difference :/

This is a normal behaviour ? How to do to not "update nothing" in the history ?

Hi @Annie HIP-KI,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

In order to cancel your change to a page and not save the draft you have to click on the three dot menu up in the right hand corner and select Revert to previous version.

Top thank you !

Your answer is better than the doc support I didn't understand before your message :)

Hi @Annie HIP-KI

Welcome to community!

It is confusing indeed. In future you can try https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/delete-restore-or-purge-a-page/#Deleting-a-draft--unpublished-changes--or-a-page-version to discard the changes.

You can also delete the empty/no change version of the page by following that doc instructions. Hope it helps!
