I am confused about this statement. So I need to restrict a view and edit access to a page and all of the child pages. Here it says that the view access will be inherited and edit rights will be not. How is it possible?
If the person can not view, than he/she shall not be able to edit as well.
Hi @ylutsuk welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Your statement is correct, no view = no edit either
Access setting |
Means |
---|---|
“Anyone in this space can view and edit” |
No restrictions. |
“Anyone in this space can view, only some can edit” |
Editing is restricted to specific people. |
“Only specific people can view or edit” |
Both viewing and editing is restricted to specific people. |
Thank you for the answer!
So if I want to restrict both view and edit -> I have to choose “Only specific people can view or edit” and this setting will be inherited to all child pages?

Correct and then, per user, you can differentiate between 'View only' or 'Can edit' (which includes the view of course.)
