How Can I get Permission to View Content on Confluence?

Hello,

I'm new to Confluence and I just started at a new job. My team is using confluence and sharing stuff on there. When I go to open links to these pages, I get permission denied. My company's tech support seems to have no idea how to help. Nobody knows what to do. Any hints from this community?

You'll need to talk to the administrators for the space the pages live in - they are responsible for adding users and groups to a space and granting them the permissions to see/use it (or the system administrators)

How you find them if you don't know who they are can be hard, but look for

• Pages in the space that you can see that might tell you who the owner is
• Maybe look at the authors of pages you can see, and ask those people
• Ask whomever is giving you the links to pages
• There might be a "contact admins" link at the bottom (a lot of us disable it though, as we tend to expect the space owners to be the contact for most people)

@Michael - you'll need admin privileges to do this:

1. Confluence Administration > General configuration
2. Groups
3. Assign yourself to the confluence-administrators group

That should work. Otherwise, go to the 'Space' you want to access

1. {spaceName} > Space tools 
2. Permissions
3. Individual Permissions > Edit Permissions
4. Add yourself to this list with whatever permissions you want
