Hi, I want to add a JIRA roadmap into a Confluence page

Deleted user March 30, 2021

I am trying to add a JIRA roadmap into a Confluence page but when I try and select Roadmap in the list in the sidebar for a project, it is saying that the project doesn't have Epics configured. Is there any other way of achieving this without Epics?

Hi @[deleted] ,

We can suggest using the Table Filter and Charts for Confluence app (maybe it's already installed for your instance).

Here is an example how to create a Gantt chart based on your Jira Issues macro. The only difference for Confluence cloud is that you'll need to use the Table Toolbox macro to nest several macros due to the new editor limitations (other steps will be the same).

Hi Katerina,

Thanks for your suggestion. I think I've found a solution to what I am trying to do. There is a roadmap under the plans tab and I have found a way of embedding this by clicking on share, then generating a link for Confluence and then using the Advanced Roadmaps for JIRA macro and this has allowed me to add this to the JIRA page. Thanks again for your reply.

Hi @[deleted],

The reason why you can't add a Roadmap to Confluence if that Roadmap is associated with a project that doesn't contain Epics is simply because at the moment the Roadmap only shows Epics on the timeline. So if the project doesn't have any Epics then the Roadmaps has limited (if any functionality).

Could you describe your use case here? i.e. what are you hoping to show on the Roadmap in Confluence?

If you're looking to show story level issues on a Roadmap then one option would be to use Advanced Roadmaps (which is included with Jira Premium) as this does show all issues on the Roadmap regardless of hierarchy level.

Thanks Dave, but I have found a work around as the project I am on isn't using Epics.
