Give Users access to Confluence only

Gui Mougin January 30, 2018

I want to invite a user to access a specific space in Confluence only.

So I created a Group. Added the user to that Group. Made the group able to VIEW only for the given space in Confluence

Then I invite the user (a separate email address for me in this instance for testing purposes)

I can tick (Jira or Confluence or both), I selected Confluence ONLY

but when I received the email and clicked on the link, I was asked to choose the space I wanted to access (!)

then I was taken to Jira Dashboard (!!!)

Can someone point out what I did wrong or am missing to do?

Thank you in advance

Hi Gui,

There are default groups that are tied to the application when you tick. You can see them under Application access > View configuration.

Basically the user is added to all the default groups for that application. You can add the new group as having application access and removing the user from the other default groups that they've been already added.

Thank you Edwin for the assistance. This is much appreciated.

I did see that and ensure that my new group is only in Confluence.

When I look at the user list, I can see 'my' test user in the Confluence only list and not in Jira (which is good).

Strangely, although i already accessed Atlassian via the link, the system still displays the user as 'never logged in'.

So i resent the invite and the link still takes me to Jira 'system dashboard'.
