When I attach Word (.docx) documents to a confluence page and preview them they display in Ariel Font and a different size font. A few years ago when I uploaded Word docs they displayed in the same format. How do I tell confluence to use the documents font and formatting when they are previewed? When I download them they revert to the correct format. Maybe this is related to switching to cloud hosting? Need help, have lots of documents to update. Thanks Greg
Thanks for bringing the font inconsistency issue in Word document previews to our attention.
We have raised a bug ticket with the dev team to address the issue:

Hi @Gregory Pope and welcome to the Community.
I wonder if it's a case of font substitution - It seems that Confluence is creating a preview and substitutes fonts if the original font is not available.
Example, I uploaded a document that uses Aptos - and I'm pretty sure it was converted to Ariel (left). When I changed the font in the original docs to Ariel, the rendered docs looked exactly the same.
The same document uploaded with Time New Roman was rendered in Times New Roman (right).
(On a side note, this is a public forum so it may be prudent to avoid posting links to specific sites (and perhaps especially certain domains :) )

In my case I am uploading a Word document in Times New Roman and the preview on the confluence page is in Ariel and a larger font. If I download the document it is still in Times New Roman. Seems like Confluence is not reading the font type of the Word document I am uploading and using it in preview.

@Gregory Pope Could this be a browser setting?
My Times New Roman document was rendered in Preview in Times New Roman....

OK, so I hit the limit... I changed the whole doc to Apple Chancery - and it was rendered as Times New Roman.
Then I change one paragraph to TNR and embiggened the font, and I changed the following paragraph to Ariel. The rest remained in Apple Chancery.
Chancery was replaced with TNR. But those changed parts are rendered properly - TNR as TNR in a large size, Ariel as Ariel.
There's definitely font substitution going on for previews and it seems that some fonts are just not renderable.
But why it's replacing TNR to Ariel in your case... ??? Back in the day, font substitution would occur (or be offered) if there were some characters that were not available in the original font (back when you would have to have special CE fonts to display Central European characters like 'ž' or 'ď'.
My internationalization settings are English US.
Sorry I can't offer a solution...

Thanks. In my case I tried a number of fonts on the uploaded Word docx attachment and they all changed to Ariel when previewed. This did not happen 2 years ago. Greg
