External TOC header links

Deleted user May 31, 2019

When putting a header link (from a TOC) in an external document (with the new editor), it will send you to a different point on the page depending on if your sidebar is expanded or collapsed. Expanded, it takes you to a slightly incorrect point on the page. Collapsed it is correct.

Hello James!

I tried to replicate this behaviour in one of my instances but was unable to. I created a page with multiple Headings and regardless of Sidebar status, the redirect was correct.

The link generated by the ToC macro looks like this:

https://myinstance.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NS/pages/111111111/Table+Of+Contents+Macro#Header-Three

The test was conducted in the following browsers:

  1. Chrome version 74.0.3729.169
  2. Firefox 67.0.1
  3. Safari 12.1.1

Hey James, can you confirm the following:

  1. This is happening across all your machine's browsers
  2. This is affecting users in other machines
  3. This is affecting users in other browsers
  4. This happens in all Confluence pages with ToC macro

We want to understand if this is connected to some browser setup or cached data. Also, ruling out problems with the generated link is a good approach.

As next steps, you can try the same link in various browsers and even to clear the browsers cache.

Looking forward to you reply James!
