Excerpt include's text rendered as above header

I have am Excerpt with some header and text underneath those headers. The Excerpt include renders the text the same as the headers above them. The preview renders correctly, but the after you save an view the page it does not.

 edit: the 'Remove Surrounding Panel' option was selected on the Excerpt include.

The line the Excerpt Include was located had a heading 1 formatting applied to it. Not sure how it happened, but applying the paragraph format to the line fixed it!
