Events on the Confluence Calendar are all 8 hours wrong (ahead of teh actual time).

Events on the Confluence Calendar are all 8 hours wrong (ahead of the actual time).  I am not sure how to correct this. I thought that Confluence is smart enough to recognize my computer's local time to make appropriate adjustments.  I am surprised to see that events are all 8 hours ahead!!
