Drop down menu not retaining the selected option after page reload

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!
We are using a Drop down menu macro on our confluence pages. When users select an option from the menu and then reload the page, the selected option is reset back to the original one. How can we make sure, that the selected option is saved and retained even after page reload?
