Does edit office files work for office 2016?

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Office Connector Prerequisites

The editing of office files in  a confluence page is not working on our confluence server set up. I am using IE11, we have wedDAV enabled and are using office 2016. 

I can use the edit Document link which launches the office application but I want to be able to edit the documents on the confluence page

It does not currently work for Office 2016. Please add your vote to this improvement ticket.
