Does anyone have an example of how to use the Confluence Database Entry Backlinks? I have read the Confluence database fields page in the documentation, but I have not figured out how this field type works.

Hi @Melanie Maguire

Please find the example Use Case

Let's consider a scenario with two interconnected databases:

  1. A "Projects" database
  2. A "Customers" database

Setting Up the Databases

  1. In the "Projects" database, create an Entry Link field that links to the "Customers" database.
  2. In the "Customers" database, add an Entry Backlink field.

Using the Backlink Field

  1. When you link a customer to a project in the "Projects" database using the Entry Link field, this connection will automatically appear in the "Customers" database via the Entry Backlink field.
  2. The Entry Backlink field in the "Customers" database will now show all projects associated with each customer.

This setup allows you to:

  • See all projects a customer is involved in directly from the "Customers" database.
  • Maintain a reciprocal relationship between the two databases without manual data entry.
