We've recently updated the Viewtracker app for Confluence. The update includes a feature to block certain users, using user groups, from being tracked for analytics purposes. Our spaces want to track actual, non-contributing viewers by extracting direct contributors (who view the space daily) from an analytics report. Here are our questions about this feature that are not covered in the documentation:
Thanks!
Hello Christina,
Mattia here from bitvoodoo ag, the vendor of the Viewtracker - Analytics for Confluence app. Thank you for bringing to our attention that certain information is missing from our documentation. We will be happy to review the affected content and expand it accordingly.
The exclusion of user groups from the tracking of views happens on a global level. It is currently not possible to exclude user groups from tracking at the space level. That means, if you currently exclude a user group, they will not be tracked in all Spaces.
On the second question. Excluding user groups is not a filter that simply hides the tracked views. From the moment you define a user group, the views that members of these groups generate on Confluence page visits are no longer tracked. This means that you will see the views generated by these users in the past, but no future visits.
This also means that if you remove user groups from the exclusion, their views will not suddenly reappear. This is not possible at any time, because no views actually tracked.
If you have any further questions or feature requests regarding our app, please feel free to contact us here.
Best regards
Mattia
