Does Confluence allow "Expand" and "Collapse" of TOC content now?

I'm looking for a way to expand and collapse the TOC levels.

The topics under Heading 2 should appear after I click the expand icon next to Heading 1.

In the case of the image here, "Improve Communication:", "Provide Structure:", and "Reduce Costs:" are all Heading 2, and they should appear after I click on the expand button next to "Process Documentation Benefits", which is Heading 1. The Heading 2 content should collapse when I re-click the icon.

The "Expand" macro isn't the exact solution for this as it doesn't act as a navigation tool like the TOC does. Is there any solution to this?

Hi @Prajwal Manandhar

Welcome to the community.

The expand macro n Confluence can show information collapsed or not.

This is not in relation to the TOC macro.

There is no expandable option in the TOC macro, I also never heard or found a 3rd party solution for this.

Hi @Prajwal Manandhar and welcome to the Community.

There might be an app for that in the Marketplace so I'd try searching there first.

You can also experiment with combining TOC and TOC Zone macro. I'm thinking along the lines that on the top of the page you'd have a TOC limited to the top level headings.

Upon clicking a heading there, users would move the corresponding section of the page where you'd have the remaining headings (TOC Zone macro).

This way, you're top page TOC would not be unruly, and users would still be able to navigate to the specific sections.

As a side note, best practice is to reserve H1 to the page title and avoid using H1 in the main body of text.

If I were to follow these steps :

Would I be able to obtain anchor tags from different Headers, (which is possible to get from the Headers in TOC) since the anchor tags would be used as a navigation for documentation.
