I have a Confluence account for a company I am consulting for.

I now want to start multiple projects for 2 other clients. who are not related to this company.  Do I need to open a  separate Confluence subscription?

Hi @Anna-Louise Bouvier,

If you are working for a company in a Confluence Cloud environment your account is provided by AtlassianID (https://id.atlassian.com).

This account can be re-used across several Atlassian Cloud services. So you do not need to create multiple accounts.

However if you want to work with clients not related to your customer in a Confluence Cloud environment you need a subscription to create a new Confluence e.g. MYNEWCONFLUENCE.atlassian.net instance. It is up to you if you create a separate instance and thus subscription for each client or work together with them in a single instance. If you prefer second option to safe costs please use space permissions and page restrictions to make sure no content is leaked between them.

Best, Tobias
