Displaying a pages current version using Cloud hosting

Anders Brandt October 16, 2017

Hello

I've been struggling to figure out a solution to displaying the pages current version somewhere in the text on a page. I've found some small macros I can use, but apparently I'm not allowed to write even these small macros when I'm using the Cloud hosting version.

It appears that there are some addons like "Page Info for Scriptrunner", but that is not for Cloud either.

Does anyone have any ideas, or do we really need to move to our own server?

Hi Anders,

There's not currently a macro in Cloud that will display a page version. To do it in Server, you would be able to create a User Macro, but this is not possible in Cloud.

The request for a macro that displays the version was rejected in the past, and the best I could find for Cloud was the request to display that info in the top automatically:

I did find Scroll Document Versions for Confluence which is available for Cloud, but it's not clear if this would allow you to display versions for your Confluence pages as well. I would recommend you trial that add-on and see if you can accomplish hat you require with it.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Kind Regards,
Shannon

Hi Shannon,

That is really a shame. We really need that feature for our set-up.

I'm quite surprised that we are not allowed to write any macros at all, even such a simple one. I don't feel like that was very clear when we signed up.

Is it possible to reopen the old issue, or create a new one? To me it doesn't seem like it would be that difficult for your development team to implement a simple macro to display few simple page info. items.

It doesn't seem like Scroll does what we need, unfortunately. I can only find "Page Info for Scriptrunner" which is not enabled for Cloud hosting, for whatever reason.

Hi Anders,

I just created a new feature, since the other one was only created for Confluence Server, anyway:

Could you please vote on the above issue, and in the comments, write why you want this feature? This will help the developers to understand the need for it.

Kind Regards,
Shannon

Thank you.

I'll cross my fingers that they will get around to it sooner than later.

Hi Anders,

It will be prioritized according to our New Features Policy, so the votes from our community will help it to stand a better chance of being accepted.

Kind Regards,
Shannon

Hi Shannon,

it looks like Prioritizing in Atlassian means don't look at it for 6 years...
I'm running against this simple use case, and it's just not possible.

Why is it not possible to put this on the roadmap? it's so simple a feature!
