I do not wish to use the preview pane on the "for you" view.
I find it difficult to see the details I need in this preview pane.
Please add a feature to disable this on the "For You" view.
Wait... @Stephen_Calvert you're saying that when you try to click on a link in For you page in Confluence, things open in a preview panel on the right side of the screen?
If so, that will probably be far from ideal 😅
I've checked 4 sites and all my links open in a new tab.
All of that being said, I know there's a lot of commotion around the same thing being rolled out for Jira > see Preview Panels will soon replace the detail view in Jira’s Global Search and List views 👀 + they've paused the rollout until specific things are being addressed.
I kind of even pasted here a Jira ticket about that because I haven't found one Confluence One, and anyway everything is related here because it goes about unifying the experience between Jira and Confluence.
Wait... Paused rollout? Not reverted? Because then probably some instances get "hit" by this Change🤔

@Arkadiusz Wroblewski I don't think there's a specific one for Confluence, and that they aimed for Jira to be the first app in the portfolio, and then it would be rolled out to other apps (although, preview panels were announced a while back)
Also, there probably won't be any differences when it comes to pages - it's either it will be rolled out to the whole app, or it won't.
From what I understood, it's only paused. Not ideal, I know. Up until this point, there was only one major change, which they decided to revert fully, and that was moving Jira status from the right side of the screen to the area between summary and description, as it received major backlash. That being said, preview panels are not far from that track 👀
I do see some benefits to it, but in other cases, opening a whole dialog box or a new tab would be better. It would be ideal if each user could configure this in their personal settings, and that would pretty much solve a lot of the things people are complaining about.

Agree to extend with that.
I tell you like that. I also see some benefits, especially because from about 1.5 or 2 years, especially UI changes across products became almost "schizophrenic," so for me that was pretty much a valid next step to unify experience.
But what's most important for me is to not "force" users to get used to changes, but at least give them a choice and the possibility to earn acceptance for changes.

Hello and Welcome @Stephen_Calvert
There currently isn't an admin setting to completely disable the preview pane in the "For you" view. The closest workaround is to manually drag and resize the panel, as Confluence usually remembers your preferred width.
I'd recommend sharing your thoughts via Confluence's in-product feedback option or voting on similar layout requests like JRACLOUD-96809 on the Atlassian issue tracker.
Best,
Arkadiusz🤠
