Delete and Archive recovery

Hi

Seeking any guidance on how to view Deleted and Archived Confluence pages.

My experience of each is:

Delete - Gone for good?

Archive - Once archived you can save the URL and go back to it, BUT if you forget to save the URL then it is nigh on impossible to locate again (considering we have hundreds of users who also archive).

Any guidance appreciated!

Thanks

Hi @Christopher_Collins

Welcome to the Atlassian community!

You can find the archived pages in space settings. Please check out this page for all details: Archive content items

If the page is deleted, it goes to the trash but space admins can still restore in space settings or alternatively purge them all to delete permanently. Further info: Delete, restore, or purge a content item

@Christopher_Collins You can also find archived pages when searching by going into the advanced settings and selecting "Show archived content". This is helpful if you're searching for content and not sure if it's archived or not.

Welcome @Christopher_Collins

When deleted, it's not gone for good. You can recover it before the grace period.

When archived there is no grace period.

@Christopher_Collins - to build on the above

Deleted pages will go to the spaces trash. I am unsure of any auto -purge... They just sit there forever until an admin either purges or restores.

Purging is permeant! Not even Atlassian can recover it.

Deleted spaces, on the other hand, will auto purge after... 60?... Days (typing this out on the road and can't easily look it up).

There's other implications of both, e.g. restoring a deleted page always returns it to the end of the hierarchy, archived ones can be put anywhere. Deleted pages also lose any/all restrictions when restored.

Also anyone with space access can view the archive vs only space admins viewing the trash.
